BUENOS PRESAGIOS

Un ángel, un demonio….y un libro de profecías escrito por Agnes, la chalada. Súmale, además, a los cuatro jinetes del Apocalipsis…..uno de ellos, escritor de libros para adelgazar…también le añadiremos a un perro llamado “Perro”, a un técnico en electrónica incapaz de reparar nada y a un poderoso ejército de dos hombres….por si esto fuera poco, alguien pegó el cambiazo cuando nació el Anticristo…y se ha educado a un simple mortal como si no lo fuera…. ¿Donde está el auténtico?

Ahora es cuando os empezáis a preguntar de que va todo esto, y la respuesta es bien sencilla: Buenos presagios! la novela cómico-irónica-psicotrónica de los autores más grandes (siempre desde mi punto vista) de la actualidad: Terry Pratchett  y Neil Gaiman.

Throw in also the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ..... one of them, diet book author ... also add a dog named "Dog", an electronics technician unable to repair anything and a powerful army of two men .... as if that were not enough, someone hit a poke when the Antichrist was born and educated ... a mere mortal as if it were .... Where is the true?

Now is when you begin to ask you what this is about, and the answer is simple: Good Omens! "comical-ironic -psicotronic" novel of the greatest authors (always in my view) of the day: Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

A grandes rasgos, y dando ya por sentado que estamos ante una novela humorística (Humor negro), Buenos presagios nos relata un posible fin del mundo al que nadie quiere enfrentarse, ni tan siquiera los encargados de llevarlo a cabo. Sus principales protagonistas son Azirafel (un ángel adicto a la lectura) y Crowley (el típico demonio que te obliga a emborracharte cada vez que sales de juerga…).

Las dos caras de la moneda deciden, debido a su incondicional amor por lo mortal, unir sus fuerzas para evitar el Apocalipsis….Crowley podrá seguir disfrutando de los placeres banales de la humanidad, y Azirafel de sus sesiones de lectura. Así pues, ambos deciden ocuparse de la educación del anticristo, evitando, en la medida de lo posible, su inclinación hacia la destrucción. Pero….y siempre hay un pero, más tarde que temprano se darán cuenta de que han criado al niño equivocado.

Broadly speaking, and giving and assume that this is a humorous novel (black humor), Good Omens tells a possible end of the world that nobody wants to face, not even in charge of carrying it out. Its main protagonists are Azirafel (an angel addicted to reading) and Crowley (the typical demon that forces you to get drunk every time you go on a spree ...).

The two sides of the coin decide, because of his unconditional love for the mortal, join forces to prevent the Apocalypse .... Crowley will continue to enjoy the mundane pleasures of humanity, and Azirafel their reading sessions. So, they decide to deal with the education of the antichrist, avoiding as far as possible, their inclination towards destruction. But .... and there is always a but, sooner than later they will realize that they have brought the wrong child.

Esta es la base para una historia divertida y poco convencional, que en el fondo nos habla de la humanidad y de sus defectos, riéndose de ellos, claro. Es un libro gracioso y recomendable, pero su narrativa se hace pesada por momentos, con multitud de situaciones y conversaciones que nunca llevan a ninguna parte.

Una vez terminado de leer (son algo más de 300 páginas) la balanza se inclina más hacia lo positivo, gracias a un buen montón de sucesos ridículos e inesperados. También cuenta con unos personajes difíciles de olvidar, con comportamientos realmente locos.

Lo que más me llamó la atención, una vez finalizado, fue su conclusión y su posible re-conclusión….es difícil de entender, pero no voy a contaros más, simplemente os dejará con una sonrisa y una duda.     

This is the basis for a fun and unconventional story, which basically talks about humanity and its flaws, laughing at them, of course. It is a funny book and recommended, but his narrative is heavy at times, with a multitude of situations and conversations that never lead anywhere.

Once finished reading (they are just over 300 pages) the balance is tilted more toward the positive, thanks to a bunch of ridiculous and unexpected events. It also has unforgettable characters with really crazy behavior.

What caught my attention, once completed, was their conclusion and possible reconclusión .... is difficult to understand, but I will tell you more, I just leave you with a smile and a question.

Para los que busquen un humor inteligente (y no tan inteligente) en una obra atípica, Buenos presagios supone una lectura de calidad, aun sin ser perfecta. Para el resto, seguramente sea un libro carente de significado.

No es el mejor libro de estos dos autores (ni de lejos), pero es un pasatiempo lo suficientemente divertido como para recomendarlo. El genial Clive Barker dijo del libro: “Nunca el Apocalipsis fue tan divertido”

For those looking for intelligent humor (and not so smart) in an atypical work, Good Omens is a quality reading, while not perfect. For the rest, it is probably meaningless book.

Not the best book of these two authors (not even close), but it is a hobby funny enough to recommend. The great Clive Barker said of the book: "Apocalypse Never was so much fun"
